Square watermelons? Round watermelons? Which one is you prefer the most? For me, I prefer both! Well, it’s still the watermelon, nothing change ;)

In Japan, in order to have square watermelons, Japanese grow it in boxes, which force the watermelon’s shape. It has been developed over 30 years ago by the farmer in Kagawa. The farmer comes up with this idea due to the struggle that they had in order to fit the large round watermelons in their refrigerators. Thus, this idea helps them to easily pack and store their watermelon.

However, you can’t eat it as the watermelons are harvested before ripe, so they are mostly rotten. The prices are double or triple the price of normal watermelon.

Is it unique right? Although it is expensive, most Japanese buys it as a gift items for decoration.
